Congratulations to our Southport Challenge Series Winners

Hot and humid conditions greeted the field for the first Challenge Series event held at Southport Golf Club yesterday. With a combined stableford score of 78 points, Matthew and Lachlan secured their way to the Challenge Series final in January next year. They now wait to see who they will be up against in the battle for a place in the TaylorMade Order of Merit final in Las Vegas in February 2020.

Congratulations and commiserations to Ronald Willis and Noel Corley finishing second and Brenda Ruyg and Vai Johnston who came in third. Valerie Peters and Cameron Powell are the proud recipients of new TaylorMade drivers after their accurate straightest drives while Troy Theobold, Valerie Peters and Carolynn Rothwell received balls and caps for their nearest the pin efforts. Thanks again to our wonderful partners TaylorMade and Concourse for the outstanding prizes on offer.

I don’t have a Golf Australia handicap – can I enter?

Ah, No

How many rounds do I have to play to qualify for the order of merit?

10 – but you can play as many as you want.

The best 10 will count. Just think – if you played 50 qualifying rounds that would be $2 per round to get you in the running to Las Vegas (wish coffee was that cheap!)

How many qualify?

That depends on how many registered players there are in each grade. The minimum is 1 qualifier and there is no maximum per grade and once we hit 200 in a particular grade, we take 2, 300 – 3 and so on.

So, say we only have 20 A Grade Male players registered (unlikely we think) then only 1 (the top 1) would qualify for the final. But if there were 450 B Grade Females that registered there would be 4 qualifiers. It really is a case of the more the merrier – so tell your friends to increase the chance of you all qualifying for the final.

What’s on offer?

If you qualify, an expense paid trip to Las Vegas, USA in February 2020. This includes return economy airfares, 3 nights accommodation, welcome and presentation dinner as well as entry into the final round playoff.
